‘Adventures of Omanakuttan’, the debut directorial of Rohith V S, is a vibrant comedy thriller set in Mysore. The movie deals with the meeting up of two people who are entirely different in their way of life, how they manage several situations together and how they encounter the problems that come their way. The story of the movie was the brain child of Sameer Abdul and he wrote the screenplay along with the director. Asif Ali plays the role of the introverted Omanakuttan while Bhavana does the role of Pallavi, a ghost hunter. Both of them share a good on screen chemistry and is a treat to see them sharing screen space.
The movie tells the story of Omanakkuttan, (Asif Ali) who is an employee at the Customer Care Centre of Clintonica Hair Oil based in Mysore, and Pallavi, (Bhavana), a Kannada girl and a very smart dance student. Omanakuttan is very talented at his job and his employer is very much happy about his performance. Omanakuttan is a timid kind of person who does not know how to conduct himself in public and how to manage situations. Omanakuttan happens to meet Pallavi who is an opinionated and frank person. She is preparing for a dance performance called Flamenco in Spain. Both Omanakuttan and Pallavi are poles apart in their characters and behaviour. The amusing instances that follow are depicted in ‘Adventures of Omanakuttan’.
‘Adventures of Omanakuttan’ is written and directed by debutant Rohith V S. The film is produced by Antony Binoy under the banner of Four M Entertainments. Asif Ali executed his role as an introverted day dreamer with grandeur. The actor’s capability as an actor can be articulated from seeing him blend into his character onscreen. Bhavana as the Kannada girl Pallavi is attractive, outspoken and full of energy. She as the ghost hunter is a marvel. Aju Varghese, Saiju Kurup, Siddique, V K Prakash, Sivaji Guruvayoor, Mridul Sivakumar, Santhosh Keezhattoor, Sreekumar, Srinda Ashab, and Archana Jayakrishnan are among the other actors and they all did their parts perfectly.
Technologically speaking, the vivid visuals of the movie is the work of cinematographer, Akhil George and his work is commendable. The brilliant cuts of the movie was made by Livingston Mathew and those cuts are precise and sharp. The music department is helmed by Arun Muraleedharan and Dawn Vincent and we get some sweet and melodious songs from them. As mentioned before, the movie is the debut work of Rohith VS and the story is written by Rohith VS and Sameer Abdul and the director did not disappoint us with his first adventure.
