Godha is not just a platform for the wrestling but a perfect combo of love, friendships and family relationships covered with pure humour that brings cute smiles in every faces. Directed by Basil Joseph, after Kunjiramayanam, Godha gifts the audience a wonderful experience filled with class and mass performance from all. Sports based movies are seen rarely in Mollywood and Godha fills it in a prestigious way. Though it’s a sports based movie the focus is given many other things too and it makes the movie a perfect entertainer. As of Kunjiramayanam, Basil Joseph succeeds in finding a freshness in humour and everything else. He made the last quarter of this summer vacation more celebrating with this colourful entertainer.
Kannadikkal is a beautiful village which have given birth to numerous wrestlers and there is no one who hadn’t practiced wrestling once in their life. It was there in their blood. Manayathu Vayal which stands at the heart of the village is all to them because it was their Godha where the heroes fought bravely with their strength and strategic moves. Captain, essayed by Ranji Panicker and many are still cherishing the Gusthi in their routine but the new generation is not interested on it. Captain’s son Anjaneyadas is also not so interested in the wrestling even though he is a wrestler. Everything gets a fantastic change when a Punjabi cute girl named Aditi Singh enters the village. As of performance everyone gives a heroic act with their roles. Whether it is Ranji Panicker or Tovino Thomas or Wamiqa Gabi, they all make tremendous impact on the story. They make us laugh, getting excited, thrilling and many more. All of them has got mass entry and they successfully maintained it till the last moment.
A colorful entertainer and thorough laugh riot, Godha is a complete teamwork and as we all expected it turned out to be a perfect movie with timey counters from all the characters. Aju Varghese’ Balettan stands in the first row with uncountable moments. The comparison made by Bijukuttan’s Kolamachan between Jagathychettan and Balettan has really aroused big laughs among audience. There are many occasions where Aju Varghese’ Balettan, Biju Kuttan’s Kolamachan, Dharmajan’s Danger, Hareesh Kanaran’s Dhim Dhi, Mamukkoya and all others brought forth irresistible laughs for the viewers. Hareesh Perady, Mamukkoya and many others have done acute performance too.
A well worked script is one of the main strengths of the movie because there are many characters and everyone is noticed for their roles. Rakesh Mantodi has done well with the penning works. On the technical front, the camera has been handled by Vishnu Sarma and the visuals are in detail and fine. The sharp cuts of the movie was made by Abhinav Sunder Nayak and he has edited the movie in the most perfect way. Shan Rahman ruled the music department and the audience got to hear some romantic, comedic and energetic songs that suits the movie very well. The background score of the movie is commendable. The most praiseworthy part of the movie is its direction and Basil Joseph deserves a big round of applause for gifting us a pakka entertainer with full on masti.
