Udaharanam Sujatha is an exemplary movie which focuses on the diminishing life values possessed by the young generation. Directed by the debutant Phantom Praveen, the movie is the remake of the Tamil movie Amma Kanakku, which itself a remake of Bollywood movie Nil Battaye Sannata. This is the second production venture by Joju George and Martin Prakatt after Charlie. This saga of a hardworking mother and her lethargic teenaged daughter might have placed a good spot among the hearts of the viewers and they see their life in it on one way or another way.
Sujatha, played by Manju Warrier, is from Chenkalchoola colony in Trivandrum and does numerous odd jobs through the day to earn enough to fund her daughter Athira’s education. Meanwhile, Athira doesn’t believe in studies and says she will grow up to be another housemaid, just like her mom. This upsets Sujatha. She wants to teach her daughter the value of education and the way she does it makes the audience thrilling. Manju Warrier as Sujatha has presented yet another wonderful performance in her career and she really steals the hearts of all. The efforts of single mother to meet the both ends of life are effortlessly portrayed by the actress and no one ever can replace her on this character. On the other side the debutant Anaswara Rajan delivers a promising performance and there is no wonder if she finds a top spot in the array of heroines in the future. She has got a good start now let’s hope that she will make more from it.
Udaharanam Sujatha is blessed with performance of others too apart from Manju Warrier and Anaswara. This include the producer and actor Joju George, Nedumudi Venu, Mamta Mohandas and Alancier etc. Since the subject deals with life and chaos of a fraught woman to bring up her child and make both ends meet the course is expected to conjure emotional moments that are real dramas and the movie has found success in it. Living upto the expeactaions is one of the leads to the success of the movie. This movie is a need of time and the whole cast and crew is to be praised for bringing such a valuable movie for this Puja Holidays…the perfect time…!
On the technical side, Udaharanam Sujatha might feel lucky with those blessed crew. The script by Martin Prakkat is the main reason to make it a favourite of all. Gopi sunder with his melodious and pleasant composing has taken away the hearts of all and lyrics are extremely touching. The Award Winner Madhu Neelakandan clearly captured the tiny happiness and engrossing anxieties of Sujatha and her surroundings. The name Mahesh Narayan is enough to know the quality of editing and the audience really enjoyed it. Udaharanam Sujatha is a never miss movie for all those who love their mother and all those who know the value of education.
