Vimanam takes off to world fulfillment and inspirations with a wonderful story. Directed by debutant Pradeep M Nair, Vimanam is one of the best motivational movies so far in the history of Malayalam Film Industry. With a disciplined storytelling and incredible performances from the talented actors, Vimanam lands perfectly on the right track and offers all the viewers a wonderful journey. The long experience that the director has in the industry keeps away all those faults that a new comer may commit. All the praises are for you dear director and surely there are a lot to come from you.
The film opens with a witty deaf child Venkidi whose strong dream is to make an aircraft on his own. Little Janaki too joins him; they start dreaming together. The story gathers momentum with a dream old Venkidi (Prithviraj) has that takes him on a journey both literally and virtually. He travels years back in memories and, in reality, he is on the way back to his village where those memories took place. Indulged in thoughts about his lady love Janaki (Durga Krishna), Venkidi is on his way to meet the now old and ailing Janaki. He recalls the first time he met her, their friendship and love, and tests and trials in getting the aircraft to fly. The rest is told with a wonderful piece of art called storytelling. Prithviraj’s special talent to portray such different kinds of roles are proved earlier and Venkidi in Vimanam is one of the top ones among them. The dedication he shows towards his characters is incredible. The new comer Durga Krishan as Janaki is pretty in appearance and good in acting and she would surely come up with more roles in mean time.
Venkidi has great support by his mentor Roger (Alencier) and his uncle Murugan (Sudheer Karamana) and their roles are wonderful as an aircraft. Both Alancier and Sudheer Karamana are the kings in their own respective roles and they continue their reign with good performance. Lena, Saiju Kuruppu, Ashokan and Deepa Ramanujam etc have done so well with their characters to make this Vimanam flying smoothly without any troubles. The vfx works of the movie are worthy to be noted for its work. The dedication level of the actors is clearly proved with the different looks from different periods, especially by Prithviraj and Lena.
The debutant writer-director flourishes to pile the plot of the story pleasingly. The technical aspect of building an aircraft has been credibly depicted on screen, and this shared with a top-notch direction, and graceful performances make Vimanam a worthy entertainer. Motivating movies immensely hinge on its music to convey its true emotion into the viewers’ mind. Gopi Sunder’s good compositions do justice to the film and help it to attain high levels of skill. With his music, Gopi Sunder effectively slides his audience into every sentiment at his will. The cinematography of the movie has been handled by Shehnad Jalal and is remarkably good. Combined with a beautiful romantic story and an inspirational life story Vimanam is a must watch movie on the big screen. For, it has something that your life needed at the most…inspiration.
